Surgeon for Breast Augmentation Helps You Get Curves You Deserve
A woman’s breast shape and size can dramatically affect the contour of her body shape. However, pregnancy, breastfeeding, age, or just natural body type can leave some women with a flat, sagging or small chest. Do you find yourself wishing for fuller, perkier breasts? Consider a breast augmentation in New Orleans. Studies show that breast augmentation can improve women’s quality of life and mental well-being. In fact, breast augmentations are the number one most popular kind of cosmetic surgery for women.
What is a breast augmentation?
A breast augmentation is surgery to change the size and shape of your breasts, generally to make them larger and fuller. The surgery involves placing an implant sac inside each of your breasts and usually takes about one to two hours, which is considered a very safe amount of time to be under anesthesia.
You have several options to choose from for your breast augmentation to achieve different results:
- You can choose the size of the implant (See our blog post on How To Choose The Right Breast Implant Size)
- Implants can be made of saline or silicone gel
- Implants can be placed above or below the pectoral muscle
- You can use liposuction to remove fat from other places in your body and inject it into your breasts for a smaller, more natural increase in breast size
- Incisions can be made under the arm, under the breast, or in the areola.
- A breast augmentation can be combined with a breast lift for even better results.
Confused about all of these different options? During your consultation, double board-certified New Orleans plastic surgeon Dr. Sadeghi can talk you through each and every decision. He’ll help you understand your body type, medical history, and desired outcomes to help you make the best choices to achieve your goals!
How Much Will a Breast Augmentation Cost?
As of 2018, the average cost of a breast augmentation is about $3,800, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Your breast augmentation will be tailored to your body specifically so the cost might vary some in your case. What Can I Improve with a Breast Lift?
If you feel insecure about your breasts, it can affect your self-esteem, ability to be intimate, social interactions, and even your mental health. Here are some improvements you can look forward to after your breast augmentation:
1. More Attractive, Youthful Breasts
Full and firm breasts are a sign of youthful vigor, whereas deflated or saggy breasts can make you look old. By augmenting your breast tissue, Dr. Sadeghi can make your breasts appear dramatically more supple, more attractive, and younger.
2. More Contoured Body Shape
Especially when combined with other plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation can dramatically change your curves, making you look healthier and younger. You’ll be able to wear clothes and styles that might not have suited your body shape before.
3. More Confidence
Many women report feeling more confident and attractive after receiving breast implants. Are you ready to get a new boost to your self-esteem?
Is a Breast Augmentation Right For Me?
You may want to consider a breast augmentation if:
- Your breasts sag
- Your nipples hang lower than the bottom of your breast line
- Your breasts are smaller, longer, or flatter than you prefer

How Is a Breast Augmentation Performed?
Breast augmentation is done by making a surgical cut under the breast, under the arm, or around the areola (which is the dark part of your nipple). Then, to make the breasts larger, implants filled with saline water or silicone gel are inserted into the breast. These sacs can be placed either above or below the pectoral muscle. Dr. Sadeghi can recommend which types of procedures will be best for your body and desired outcome.
If you choose to augment your breasts using fat from liposuction, Dr. Sadeghi will help you to decide how much body fat you want removed and from where. In liposuction, a small surgical incision is made at the site where you want fat removed and the fat is sucked out. Then the fat can be inserted into your breasts.
What Should I Expect While Recovering After a Breast Augmentation?
Most women take about six weeks to completely recover from a breast augmentation, but some women feel back to normal after only a week. Most can return to a desk job after about a week, as well. Pain after a breast augmentation is mild, but you should expect some soreness and swelling.
After your breast augmentation, your breasts will need extra support—you should use a support bra at all times for the weeks following your surgery. A support bra provides extra stability and some compression to help keep down swelling and reduce pain.
Dr. Sadeghi wants to make sure you have the most comfortable recovery process possible and will make sure to give you instructions including:
- How to properly care for your surgery incisions
- Medications to help with swelling, pain, and to prevent infection
- Warning signs to watch out for any possible complications
- When to schedule a followup appointment
Will Breast Augmentation Leave Scars?
Because breast augmentation involves making incisions in the skin, there is always a risk that scars will be left after surgery. There are still a few ways to help prevent scarring, though.
One way is by working with a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Sadeghi. He knows ways to reduce your risk of complications that may cause scarring before and after surgery.
Another way is by quitting smoking before your surgery. The chemicals in cigarette smoke can cause incisions to heal slower and less completely.
Remember, every person’s body responds differently to surgery. Dr. Sadeghi can help you decide the best and safest options for your body. As a general rule, the fewer operations you have performed, the fewer scars you will have after surgery.

Breast Augmentation FAQ
How painful is it to get breast implants?
Pain is usually mild after a breast augmentation surgery. However, it is still a surgery so you should expect some discomfort and soreness, but only the pain associated with getting a bruise. Don’t worry, Dr. Sadeghi can provide you with the proper pain medications and give you suggestions on how to make recovery more comfortable. Keep in mind that severe pain might be a sign something is wrong—make sure to contact Dr. Sadeghi’s staff if you’re feeling anything that might be out of the norm.
Should I get silicone or saline implants?
Both work wonderfully, although silicone gel implants are the more modern procedure. Some women say silicone gel feels more like natural breast tissue, but some prefer the shape and hang of the saline water implants.
Will I still be able to breastfeed after a breast implant?
Most patients can still breastfeed after a breast lift or breast augmentation, but you should let Dr. Sadeghi know if you plan to continue breastfeeding or any concerns you might have. Because the surgery does not affect the nipple or the breast ducts, the breasts should maintain their normal function.
Will a breast lift or augmentation make my areola smaller?
Some people choose to make the areola smaller along with a breast augmentation, but it isn’t necessary. Dr. Sadeghi can help you know what will give you the breast appearance you desire.
